About Me

Delaney trowbridge

Wildlife Photographer. Captain 100 tons.

Delaney is a professional wildlife photographer and U.S. Coast Guard licensed captain based in Newport Beach, California. Since 2017, she has worked on whale-watching tour boats across Southern California - ranging from San Diego to the Channel Islands. She is currently employed by Newport Coastal Adventures (Newport Beach, CA) and Pacific Offshore Expeditions (Oxnard, CA) captaining zodiacs on wildlife cruises ranging from 2.5 to 10+ hours in duration. In Southern California alone, she’s proud to have encountered 20 species of whales and dolphins.

Delaney’s greatest passion is connecting people with marine wildlife through her opportunities as a tour guide and photographer. She is an advocate for ethical, non-invasive approaches to whale watching - prioritizing animal welfare and educational outreach over sensationalized, content-driven experiences.

Her images have been contributed to scientific photo identification catalogs for the California Killer Whale Project (CKWP), Cascadia Research Collective (CRC), Marine Ecology and Telemetry Research (MarEcoTel), and Happywhale. Additional images have been provided to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) for educational outreach and whale entanglement reports.
